Hi, I’m Laura!

I live in the suburbs about forty minutes from Boston, Massachusetts. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Geoff, who is probably the most thoughtful and selfless person you’ll ever meet.

Soon after purchasing our new home, my husband and I knew we wanted to start filling it with little ones. Our first baby girl was born on my birthday in 2021. Best birthday present EVER!

Our second baby girl was born 19 months later. I’ve always hoped that my children would be close in age, and we were lucky enough to have made this dream a reality. Although I’ll be honest, having two little ones that are under two years apart has its challenges! But I’ll get into that in my posts… stick around to experience the chaos, craziness, and cackles that a life with kids (and a husband and a cat) brings!

My Background

I was lucky enough to have a childhood filled with different cultures and experiences. I was born in Barcelona, Spain where I lived with my parents in a small apartment. My parents and I moved away from our family when I was four years old and we moved to The Netherlands, where my sister was born. I learned English at an international school and quickly made friends who were from all over Europe. My accent during these years was somewhat of a mess – a mixture of Scottish and British.

When I was nine years old, the four of us moved to Massachusetts, USA. This was a big change for me and I felt like the ugly duckling for the first couple of years. As challenging as it was to be thrown into a new country again, I’m thankful for how open-minded my experiences have made me. I hope to share some of my perspectives with the world in this blog.

About the blog

My goal for this blog is to provide people with resources, tips, and ideas for how to manage the hectic life of being a parent. I’m constantly learning how to be a better mom to my two little girls, and I know I can help others along the way.

I’m not perfect (although I admit I can be a perfectionist), but I strive to grow and improve in any way I can. When life gets crazy, I have learned to try my best to smile, laugh, and as Dory from Finding Nemo says – just keep swimming. It’s easy to forget to do this while you’re in the thick of blowouts and temper tantrums, but I hope to be able to provide hope and reassurance to my readers. I’ve only been a mom for a short time, but trust me, it just keeps getting better.

education

I have a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in Education. I started my teaching career as a first-grade teacher and now I am a kindergarten teacher. People always say they can’t imagine teaching such young children… I always tell them that it’s teaching these kids the foundations that I love the most. You get to be one of their first teachers who help them learn to be kind, while also instilling a love of learning.

what life looks like today

I am currently on maternity leave so I can soak up every second of my babies. I was fortunate enough to be able to stay home with my first daughter for six months, so I got greedy when I got pregnant with my second and decided to spend even more time with her.

For now, I am now living the life of a stay-at-home mom with my two-year-old and my seven-month-old. There are amazing days, tough days, and then flat-out terrible days, but – we just keep swimming. After my husband and I put the girls to bed at the end of the day, I always say in my head “I wouldn’t have it any other way”. At The Juggling Mama, I’m here to share with you all the ups and downs of parenthood and how to balance it with your home life – the good, the bad, and the ugly. I just hope to make the ‘ugly’ a little less ‘ugly’ and a little more ‘glamorous’.
