Whether you’re throwing a party or attending one, these strawberry-filled jello shots will be a hit. They’re super easy to make and they look great, too.
What you’ll need
Ingredients
- 3 ounces (1 pack) of strawberry-flavored gelatin
- 1 cup of boiling water
- 1 cup of vodka
- About 26 large strawberries
Materials
- knife
- cutting board
- 1/4 tsp measuring spoon (for scooping)
- Pot for boiling water
- Measuring cup
- Wax paper
- Baking Sheet
1. Wash and cut the strawberries
Wash the strawberries and put them on a cutting board. Cut the stem off each strawberry by laying it on its side. Make this cut straight by laying it on its widest part (don’t point the bottom of the strawberry down). This will make them look level when you stand them up.
Next, scoop the inside of the strawberry with a 1/4 tsp measuring spoon. Be sure to scoop out enough so you can fit a good amount of jello inside without creating any holes.
Cut a small part off the bottom of the strawberry so it can stand up straight. Make sure not to cut too much off so you don’t create a hole.
Place a piece of wax paper on a baking sheet and arrange the strawberries on it.
2. Make the jello
Bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Put 3 ounces of strawberry-flavored gelatin in a small bowl. Once the cup of water is boiling, pour it into the small bowl with the gelatin. Stir the mixture for about 2 minutes.
Pour a cup of vodka into the gelatin mixture and stir.
3. Fill the strawberries
Pour the gelatin mixture into a measuring cup, or a container that is easy to pour out of. Fill each strawberry with the mixture. Try to fill them as much as possible because the gelatin will shrink when cooled.
Place the baking sheet into the fridge and cool for about 4 hours or until the gelatin has set.
4. Enjoy!
These can be made with any liquor, such as tequila, white rum, or gin.
You can also make these without liquor. Instead of a cup of liquor, add 1 cup of cold water.
Add a garnish to your strawberries! I added whipped cream to mine, but you can add lime or lemon slices, mint, or granulated sugar.
Make them fit your party theme by garnishing them with the appropriate colors! I made these for the 4th of July and added a dollop of whipped cream and a blueberry on top.
Whatever occasion you choose to make these for, remember to have some (responsible) fun!
